You are a very important part of your child's education!

Parents are their child's first teacher.  From the time they are born, children learn from the people around them.  It really does matter that parents are a part of their child's education, before and after a child starts school.  With schools and parents joining in partnerships, every child can have a great school experience.

On this website you will find information regarding parent and family events along with a wide range of resources for parents.  Throughout this website the word "parent" refers to all caregivers of our students.

We are here to assist you in being a partner in your child's education.  Here you can learn more about...

* Family programs

* Community resource

* Title I Schoolwide programs

* MCAS - Massachusetts Comprehensive Assessment System

* Curriculum Frameworks

* Afterschool programs

* School-community collaborations

* Current education research

* Volunteers opportunities

      and much more.

Setting Limits with your Strong-Willed Child by Robert J. MacKenzie, ED.D.

Chapter 7~Stopping Power Struggles Before They Begin

Does your child try to evade your consequence by pleading for a second chance or by promising not to do it again? Do you go along with it? Parents who do set themselves up for further testing and power struggles. When children give us the right words but the wrong behavior, hold firm and stay focused on behavior. Let's look at how Dean's mother does this.

Dean, age eight, walks by his younger sister and gives her a kick. She screams, and their mom arrives on the scene.

"Dean kicked me," his sister complains. The red spot on her leg is still visible.

"I barely touched her," says Dean. "It didn't hurt."

"It's not okay to kick others," says his mother, matter-of-factly. "I'll see you in fifteen minutes." She sends him for a time-out.

"I won't do it again," Dean says contritely. "Can I have another chance?"

His mother holds firm. "That's a good choice for next time," he says, "but this time you need to head to your room."
